Pokémon SoulSilver Version Linux port

ssrecomp · by ClickingMaster

About this recompilation

Game-specific static recompilation of Pokémon SoulSilver US for single-screen devices. Generates ARM9 C++ locally from an owned ROM and combines it with melonDS instruction handlers, DS hardware emulation, and a custom widescreen frontend.

Linux support and installation

LinuxExperimental

Build required

Static ARM9-to-C++ recompilation; melonDS handlers and DS hardware/ARM7 emulation

Requirements

Own Pokémon SoulSilver US .nds dump. Setup generates and compiles game code locally; CMake, Ninja, C++ compiler, SDL2, libpng and zlib. Manual build documentation recommends about 3 GB storage and 16 GB RAM.

Sources

Download is a setup builder, not a ready-made game. Linux tested on Ubuntu 24.04 in a Fedora/Bazzite container; early routes, towns and gyms demonstrated, full play-through not verified. v0.2.6 is a controller-fix prerelease. Generated instruction execution still calls melonDS handlers; no recompilation speed-up is claimed.

LinuxUnknown

Build required

Static ARM9-to-C++ recompilation; melonDS handlers and DS hardware/ARM7 emulation

Requirements

64-bit ARM Linux, documented for Raspberry Pi 4/5 and other arm64 devices. Own SoulSilver US ROM and local build dependencies; release AppImage builds the game from that ROM.

Sources

Setup builder is available, but no real ARM Linux playtest is documented in inspected maintainer evidence. Full-game completion is unverified. v0.2.6 is a prerelease; performance and device coverage should be treated as experimental.
