About this recompilation

K0NL's static recompilation of the Nintendo Switch version of Bayonetta 2 for Windows and Linux. It builds locally from the user's extracted game data, with an NVN-to-Vulkan runtime derived from Denkishi's ssbu-recomp.

Platform support & installation

PC

Build required

Static AArch64-to-C recompilation with native Windows runtime and NVN-to-Vulkan graphics

Requirements

Windows 10/11 x64, Vulkan 1.3 GPU, and own extracted Switch Bayonetta 2 v1.2 (update v131072), with ExeFS and RomFS. The downloadable builder supplies build tools; the game must be compiled locally. Keep the dump folder available after building.

Sources

Prerelease. Later chapters, Windows 10 and broader GPU coverage remain incompletely tested. AMD fixes were simulated on the maintainer's NVIDIA system and are not confirmed on all affected hardware. Initial shader compilation can stutter; rates above 60 fps can affect effects and menus. Encrypted game packages are refused.

Linux

Build required

Static AArch64-to-C recompilation with native Linux runtime and NVN-to-Vulkan graphics

Requirements

64-bit Linux PC; packaged build targets x86_64 and glibc 2.35. Vulkan 1.3 graphics driver, own extracted Switch Bayonetta 2 v1.2 (update v131072) ExeFS and RomFS, and about 2 GB build space. Downloadable Linux builder supplies tools, not a prebuilt game; compile locally and keep the dump available. Maintainer provides Steam Deck Desktop Mode setup instructions.

Test prerelease. Maintainer reports testing on CachyOS/Arch-based systems with RTX 4060 laptop and RX 560, KDE/Hyprland Wayland; other distributions and Steam Deck are documented setup targets, not verified here. Independent 60 Hz frame clock can judder on non-60-Hz displays; texture checksumming adds CPU overhead. Encrypted game packages are refused. No full-game completion or broad hardware support inferred.
