Native static recompilation with Direct3D 11 or Vulkan via DXVK
Requirements
64-bit Windows 7 SP1, 8.1, 10 or 11; own USA retail Xbox disc ISO or extracted folder containing default.xbe. Extract the package and use The Two Towers Recompiled launcher to install/select the game data. Direct3D 11 is the default; bundled DXVK enables optional Vulkan.
Sources
Character shadows and lighting remain imperfect; optional extra-hero models/animations have known defects. Above-60-fps play can break animations and cause audio crackle; widescreen effects may misalign. Optional third-party GameCube texture pack is separate, and its reuse rights were not verified. Vulkan black screens may require switching back to Direct3D 11. Maintainer 1.9.3 testing describes Wine level/menu checks, not an independently verified full native-Windows playthrough.

Requirements
macOS 10.15 or newer on Intel, or a compatible Apple-silicon Mac with Rosetta 2; own USA retail Xbox disc ISO or extracted folder. Extract the x86_64 archive and use twotowers-setup to prepare original game data.

The shipped 1.9.3 Mac binary has not been run on a Mac by the maintainer. A reporter's separately built patch reached renderer, sound and intro screens on M2 Pro, which does not verify the release package; full gameplay, controllers and Intel Macs remain untested.
